chevronsIs implant placement painful?

Implants are placed under local anaesthetic and you will not feel anything during the surgery. The area that has been operated on can be swollen for a few days after the surgery and the small pain that might occur will easily disappear with a light analgesic.

chevronsWhat is the cost of such a procedure?

An implant placement is an investment for the future and for your quality of life. Getting new teeth that feel like your own is extraordinary. It is a treatment that will save you other dental expenses in the future. The importance of the treatment will determine the cost. Ask your dentist about it and check with him about a possible financing plan.

chevronsWill it feel as my own teeth?

The implants are anchored in the bone and act as your other teeth when you chew, speak or laugh. Most people don't feel any difference between their natural teeth and their new teeth.

chevronsWill my new teeth look like my other teeth?

Yes they will! Normally only a dentist could notice the difference. They look so much alike!

chevronsCan I keep my other teeth?

Of course you can! The implants make it possible to replace your missing teeth without impacting the healthy teeth. Contrary to conventional dental bridges or partial devices, there is neither need to attach on adjacent teeth nor to grind or damage them.

chevronsIs there an age issue?

Normally there is no age issue but if you are less than 18 years old you must make sure that you've stopped growing before considering implants placement.

chevronsDo dental implants involve any risks?

Many clinical studies in this field have shown that the long-term results are positive. The exceptional designing guarantees a very high resistance and provides a good retention of the dental restoration. The threaded rods help to hold it in place and to preserve the bone. All this maintains the soft tissue contour and gives a natural look.

chevronsWhy are implants made of titanium?

Titanium is bio-compatible and the bone grows together with the metal by a phenomenon known as "osseointegration". This depends on your teeth and on the treatment that best suits your case. Some people only need one surgery when others must undergo two. The initial examination, the surgery, the after surgery checking, the prosthetic restoration and a follow-up visit require about 6 to 8 appointments before the end of the treatment.

chevronsDoes the procedure require a general anaesthetic?

Generally not, a local anaesthetic sometimes associated with a sedative is enough. However, a general anaesthetic is possible if you prefer; talk to your dentist about it. A general anaesthetic might be better when a bone graft is necessary.

chevronsWill I be toothless during the treatment?

No, you can always have crowns or temporary prosthesis. However, when a bone graft is necessary, it is sometimes better to wait a little before applying pressure on the grafted area.

chevronsHow should I take care of my new teeth?

To maintain a good result, you only have to brush your teeth carefully and to floss properly.
